Heart Attack Worthy Dessert

Deep Fried Truffles

What could be better than deep frying chocolate? Actually probably a lot of things, but it sounded like the best idea at the time. A couple of my friends and I were flipping through a chocolate cookbook and discovered this recipe that consists of making truffles from scratch and repeatedly dipping them in egg wash, flour, and shredded coconut, again and again...and putting them in the freezer again and again... and then finally popping them in a pan full of sizzling oil. As long as the coatings around the truffle were just the perfect thickness, the outside was a crispy golden shell that held the gooey truffle center. We served them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dash of cinnamon for the finishing touch.
